Editors at the conservative U.S. website Breitbart have recently started to regularly publish China-Africa-related stories in what appears to be part of a new focus on posting stories critical of Chinese engagement around the world.
With an estimated 60 million monthly readers, Breitbart is among the largest American news sites and very influential with key policymakers in the White House, State Department and the Pentagon among other U.S. government agencies. In essence, Breitbart speaks directly to Donald Trump’s base of conservative voters who have become increasingly skeptical of China during the president’s tenure.
