For the second day in a row, the Chinese embassy in Zimbabwe took to Twitter to push back, albeit indirectly, at The Guardian (UK) for a report that alleged Chinese mining company Jingding had forcibly evicted residents to make way for a new mine.
Both the embassy and the company claimed that the freelance reporter, Nyasha Chingono, had not spoken with the company to visit Jingding’s operations. Chingono, for his part, said that he reached out to both Jingding’s head office in China and the embassy in Harare who “did not respond to numerous requests for comment.”
