Rwanda’s Ambassador is Solidly in China’s Corner

There’s often a huge discrepancy between the complex discourse about China that takes place in most African countries and the unabashedly enthusiastic embrace of China and the Communist Party that’s expressed by a number of African ambassadors in Beijing.

Few are as effusive as Rwandan ambassador James Kimonyo who made it clear in a recent interview with the nationalist tabloid Global Times that any criticisms of China’s activities in Africa “have no basis whatsoever” and any suggestions of a backlash are “ridiculous.”
