The incumbent Congolese President Félix Tshisekedi won a landslide re-election at the end of last year that was validated this week by the country’s Constitutional Court despite accusations of voting irregularities by both opposition parties and foreign election observers.

Also this week, the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs extended its congratulations to Tshiskedi on his victory, indicating that Beijing is ready to get on with business as usual with the DRC — now one of its most important trading partners in Africa.
