China’s ambassador to Liberia, Ren Yisheng, made a pro forma visit this week to meet the new foreign minister, Dee-Maxwell Saah Kemayah and, as is now customary, the embassy published a Tweet about the meeting.
But what’s unusual is that the embassy published the Tweet in Chinese with a link to a Chinese-language article about the meeting on the Chinese social network WeChat. Given that Twitter is blocked in China and there are still very few people in Liberia who speak Chinese, one has to wonder who exactly the embassy was trying to reach with this post?
