China’s Embassy in Zimbabwe Swats Away Social Media Rumor that a Chinese Evacuation is Underway

Zhao Baogang, China’s deputy ambassador at the embassy in Harare, called online reports that Chinese nationals were being evacuated from Zimbabwe “fake news.”

The rumor appears to have started when a Twitter user based in London posted random pictures of Chinese people at an airport that is presumably in Harare. One of the images even included Ambassador Guo Shaochun speaking with a group of Chinese passengers.
