Africa’s Dangerous Ignorance of China

Last week’s news was dominated by the publication, on Sunday, November 6, 2022, of part of the Kenyan SGR contract. It was far from the entire contract promised by the new Kenyan transport minister, but it was still a step towards transparency after years of opacity from the Kenyatta regime on the issue.

While only a partial reveal, it nevertheless made it possible to discover some surprising conditions attached to the financing of the SGR. From the document, we learn that Kenya and the Chinese party had agreed that any potential disputes would be settled before a Chinese court of justice in Beijing, in Chinese and according to Chinese law
