China’s Aluminum Industry Braces for Guinea Export Restrictions

Chinese aluminum companies are bracing for supply chain disruptions when Guinea imposes new export controls in June as part of an effort to boost bauxite prices, a key ingredient in aluminum production.

The West African country is the world’s largest bauxite producer and the largest supplier to the Chinese aluminum industry. In fact, Guinean exports to China have steadily risen since 2016 to the point where bauxite prices haven’t kept pace.
