Taiwan Pushes to Reset Ties with Honduras

Taiwan is ready to reestablish diplomatic relations with Honduras, and has been in touch with the two right-wing frontrunners in the closely fought election, said Taiwanese Foreign Minister Lin Chia-lung on Tuesday.

Both Salvador Nasralla (who took a narrow lead as the last results are being processed) and his closest rival, Nasry Asfura, have suggested they would move diplomatic ties back to Taiwan if they win. Outgoing President Xiomara Castro established diplomatic relations with Beijing in 2023.
