The Swedish phone-maker Ericsson has started legal action against the Chinese mobile company Transsion in Nigeria, Brazil, India, and the Unified Patent Court. The suit accuses Transsion of patent infringement.

The Swedish company alleges that Transsion avoided entering a patent licensing agreement on Fair, Reasonable, and Non-Discriminatory (FRAND) terms, despite ten years of negotiations. The suit particularly focuses on royalties for 4G and 5G technologies. It says Transsion’s “perpetual delay tactics” affect technological innovation.
