Chinese agricultural traders booked at least ten orders of Argentinian soybeans following the Milei government announcement on Monday that it will suspend export taxes on key crops. The move comes as Argentina tries to boost its supply of dollars and ease pressure on the peso.

The orders – each representing a 65,000-ton shipment – are reportedly scheduled to be loaded in November. President Javier Milei’s move will increase trade in the short term while avoiding a symbolic devaluation of the Argentinian currency. However, it will hit tax revenues down the road, as he also tries to negotiate an economic rescue package with the Trump administration.
