Attempts to contain China’s rise would only fuel its grievances, Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim warned in a recent speech in Australia.

This sentiment struck a chord with a highly-placed Chinese academic who wrote a commentary on WeChat to put his own proverbial meat on the bones of Anwar’s cryptic warning.
