The Global South is Entering a New Era Led by China, Not the West: Chinese Scholar

The decline of the U.S. and the West is a foregone conclusion, as is the rise of the Global South, led by China, and these trends are going to take precipitous strides this year. This view is outlined in a new paper by a Chinese academic and likely indicates how some high officials in the Chinese government see the world.    

Li Weijian is a researcher at the Institute for Foreign Policy Studies at the Shanghai Institutes for International Studies, a think tank accredited by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA). Li has just published an article, “New Circumstances in the Middle East and New Opportunities for Chinese Diplomacy,” in the Chinese journal Arab World Studies.
