The United States government is becoming nervous about the prospect of Chinese automakers building new factories in Mexico that would afford those new vehicles duty-free access into the U.S. market.

MG, BYD and Chery are reportedly all in talks to build new production facilities in Mexico and a major Chinese EV battery company is planning to build a $12 billion plant, according to the Financial Times.
