India is becoming increasingly alarmed about China’s growing international influence, as frosty relations with Beijing persist despite recent Chinese overtures. This is especially true for Africa. India has long considered large swathes of the continent as a traditional sphere of influence.
The Institute of Chinese Studies in New Delhi recently held a webinar to explore the implications of the growing Africa-China relationship for India. The event marked the publication of a new book on India-Africa relations by Rajiv Bhatia, India’s former High Commissioner to Kenya, and South Africa and Lesotho.
