From Ideology to Economics: The Evolution of China-Zambia Ties

China’s relations with Zambia date back to the Mao era in the 1960s and in many ways serve as the foundation of Beijing’s broader engagement on the continent today.

Dr. Emmanuel Matambo of the Africa-China Studies Centre at the University of Johannesburg worked with the International Republican Institute in Washington, D.C. to produce a compelling 17-minute video that provides a short masterclass in the key issues that underlie one of China’s most important relationships in Africa.
