It’s Getting a Lot Easier For African Shoppers to Buy Stuff on Alibaba and That Could Have a Huge Impact

South African YouTuber Lyzo Nkosi shows off a package of beauty supplies that she ordered on Alibaba and tells her views how to easily clear such items through customs.

The Chinese e-commerce giant Alibaba has been rather slow to enter the African market, focusing instead on other emerging markets like Southeast Asia where it’s developing its Lazada brand. But now it appears that the Hangzhou-based company is ramping up its engagement on the continent with new promotions and outreach to local consumers.

South African YouTuber Lyzo Nkosi, who also sells beauty products, demonstrated in a recent video just how easy it was for her to shop on AliExpress and to have her shipment cleared through customs (which is a major concern for many online shoppers across Africa).
