It was another head-spinning weekend trying to absorb the magnitude of the changes taking place in Washington. Just as you’re reading about the closure of U.S. state-funded media outlet Voice of America and its sister outlets, you learn that another U.S. Congressionally-funded think tank, the venerable Wilson Center, also took a hit.
Social media is ablaze with partisans on all sides, either crying or rejoicing over these institutional assassinations, leaving the rest of us dazed over how to make sense of all this. It’s all happening so fast that it’s impossible to fully understand the second-order effects that will come from this destruction.
