China will reportedly “guide” its enterprises to join railway construction projects in Vietnam, according to a joint statement released at the conclusion of a landmark visit by the country’s leader to China last week. It was the first visit by Tô Lâm in his new joint capacity as Vietnam’s President and the Secretary-General of the Communist Party of Vietnam.

China pledged to boost rail-related funding, technology transfer, and training, in line with calls for more cooperation on transportation and logistics coming from his meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping last week.
