UnionPay signs 11 new cross-border payment deals, expanding China’s digital payment network from Asia to Latin America.

China’s UnionPay signed 11 new cross-border payment agreements this week as Beijing’s global payments push continues to gather partners from Southeast Asia to Latin America.

The signings were announced in Shanghai. The latest group includes PayNet and Hong Leong Bank in Malaysia; Uzcard and HUMO in Uzbekistan; IPC in Kyrgyzstan; OCBC in Singapore; Banco do Brasil; Nepal’s FonePay; and Austria’s Bluecode. Bank of China was also a participant.
