The Chinese electric vehicle giant BYD reportedly plans to double its annual sales outside of China to more than 800,000 cars in 2025. The company’s chairperson, Wang Chuanfu, said it plans to evade tariffs by expanding local assembling and that it sees “great opportunities” in Latin America and Southeast Asia. (REUTERS)

One person was killed, and two are missing after a waste disposal site collapsed at a Chinese-funded nickel smelting plant in Indonesia. The workers were engulfed in sludge at a worksite in the PT Indonesia Morowali Industrial Park, known as PT IMIP, which is half-owned by a Chinese holding company. It is the latest of several accidents at the facility. (AP)
