Donald Trump is back with his favorite economic weapon: tariffs. In a move that reopens old trade wounds, the president has imposed a sweeping 25% tariff on all steel and aluminum imports—no exemptions, no exceptions.

On Monday, Trump signed proclamations raising aluminium tariffs by 25% and scrapping the country-specific exemptions and quota deals that had been in place since his first term.
