XI’s Special Envoy Attends Maduro Inauguration: Xinhua

Chinese President Xi Jinping sent a special envoy to attend the third swearing-in of Venezuela’s Nicolas Maduro, state-run Xinhua reported Saturday, underscoring Beijing’s lonely position as one of Caracas’s few international allies.

A defiant Maduro was sworn in for a new presidential term Friday in a ceremony decried as illegitimate by the opposition and internationally, with Washington offering a $25 million reward for his arrest.
