Wang Stresses Joint Modernization in Namibia Visit

Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi emphasized China’s support for African modernization during his meetings with senior Namibian officials on Monday. Wang is in the country as part of the annual Foreign Minister tour of the continent, traditionally the Chinese FM’s first trip of the year.

Wang met with Namibia’s newly-elected President, Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah and its outgoing leader Nangolo Mbumba. He pledged to strengthen exchanges around state governance and to work with Namibia to implement the commitments of the recent Forum on China-Africa Cooperation summit. The Namibian side recommitted itself to the One China Principle.
