Philippines to Counter Chinese Territorial Claims With New Military Strategy and Security Pacts

The Philippines plans to challenge China’s territorial claims in the South China Sea by developing a new, more militarized defense strategy and building what it calls a “network of alliances.”

Defense Secretary Gilberto Teodoro Jr. said on Friday that the military has adopted a new “Comprehensive Archipelagic Defense Concept” (CADC) that will “protect and secure our entire territory” against Chinese incursions into its exclusive economic zone.
