China is the Victim of Philippine Aggression in the South China Sea, According to Chinese Media

HEADLINE TRANSLATION: Philippine ship deliberately rammed Chinese coast guard boat, video of the scene released

The Chinese media’s framing of Tuesday’s collision between two Chinese and Filipino Coast Guard vessels in the South China Sea comprised two main themes:

  1. The Philippine vessels illegally entered a restricted zone and the CCG responded in accordance with the law (of course, they’re referring to Chinese domestic law and not international law when they say that).
  2. The collision was caused by the Philippine Coast Guard ship “ramming” the CCG vessel, which does seem to contradict what it looks like on the various videos.
