German President in Vietnam to Lessen Dependence on China

German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier is in Vietnam with a delegation of business executives. While Germany is already heavily invested in the Southeast Asian country, the visit feeds into Berlin’s larger mission to “de-risk” its relationship with China.

Steinmeier will discuss investment deals and facilitating the flow of Vietnamese workers to Germany.
