Chinese EV Leader BYD to Launch in Indonesia

BYD, the Chinese car company that recently surpassed Tesla to become the world’s largest maker of electric vehicles, will launch its first products in the Indonesian market next week.

As Southeast Asia’s largest market, Indonesia will be key to the regional rollout of Chinese EVs, which has sped up over the last two years via distribution deals in key markets. This is part of Chinese EV makers’ exploration of the Global South, as resistance to Chinese imports is growing in traditional car markets like Europe.
