Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi and his U.S. counterpart Antony Blinken

Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi and U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken discussed ways to prevent the Israel-Hamas conflict in Gaza from spreading and agreed to build on recent progress in bilateral ties.

“The top priority is to cease fire and to stop the war as soon as possible,” Wang told Blinken by phone on Wednesday, according to a Chinese foreign ministry readout.
