How Does China Rank in Climate Finance?

A ranking of how well developed countries are meeting their climate finance pledges. Via The Conversation

One of the most fractious fights at the COP28 summit is likely to be the developed world’s failure to meet its commitment of $100 billion in climate finance per year.

China’s rapid growth is increasing pressure on it to contribute more to this funding. However, new research from the Overseas Development Institute think tank shows that China is already a major contributor to climate finance. It found that China contributes about $1.2 billion per year via multilateral development banks and another $1.4 billion bilaterally.
