China-Linked Group Involved in Hamas-Israel Misinformation Campaign, Expert Says

A China-linked cyber organization has been attempting to criticize the Biden administration’s efforts relating to the ongoing Hamas-Israel conflict, according to John Hultquist, chief analyst at Google Cloud’s Mandiant Intelligence division.

At the same time, Chinese state media have been promoting unsubstantiated reports that the Israeli military has been using the chemical agent white phosphorus in densely populated areas of Palestine. Xinhua and the China Internet Information Center — both official government media outlets — have spread such reports, attributing them to various foreign news reports.
