Chinese cement major Huaxin broke ground this week on a new factory in Tanzania that is likely being seen as an important milestone for Chinese construction engagement in Africa.

African stakeholders have long been frustrated that Chinese contractors import a lot of the construction materials, specifically cement, for infrastructure projects, rather than buying from local suppliers.
