It took a few days, but the BBC Africa documentary “Racism for Sale,” which showcased the trend of Chinese merchants selling offensive videos online that exploit Africans, finally made it over the Great Firewall and is now the subject of lively online discussions.
While many of the comments on the Chinese social media platform Weibo are predictably horrible, as is typical of social media channels in all countries, there’s nonetheless a slightly different tone to the discourse compared to previous controversies about anti-Black racism among Chinese.
