Although China will likely not be on the official agenda at the upcoming European Union-Africa summit that will take place on Thursday and Friday in Brussels, China’s role on the continent and how Europe can/should compete with Beijing will be on everyone’s minds.
The issue came up in the latest episode of FRANCE 24’s “Talking Europe” program where presenter Catherine Nicholson asked Tomas Tobé (right), Swedish Member of the European Parliament and a member of the European People’s Party, how the EU can compete with China if it imposes human rights conditions on its lending.
