China’s largest legislative event of the year is now underway in Beijing where 5,000 delegates from the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) and the National People’s Congress (NPC) are meeting in what’s become known as the “Two Sessions.”

Every year, Chinese ambassadors in Africa and elsewhere take advantage of the event to reach out to local legislative leaders as was the case yesterday in the DR Congo where Ambassador Zhu Jing passed on a message from the head of the NPC (China’s rubber-stamp parliament) to the President of the Congolese National Assembly.
