Peru Seeks Rail Meeting with China, Brazil

Peru’s economic ministry said it is seeking a high-level meeting with counterparts in Brazil and China to take an ambitious plan to build a cross-continental railway to the next level.

This follows a meeting between Economy Minister Raul Perez Reyes and Song Yang, China’s ambassador. The proposed railway would connect Peru’s Chinese-built megaport of Chancay with Brazilian ports on the Atlantic, creating an alternative to the Panama Canal.
