Chinese Phone Brands Benefit From Reduced Inflation in Global South, Shipments Jump 12%

Shipments of mobile phones around the world increased by 12% in the second quarter of the year compared to the same period in 2023, according to new data by the market research firm Canalys.

While Samsung and Apple held on to the top two spots, Chinese brands, including Transsion, Xiaomi, and Vivo, among others, posted strong results buoyed by a surge of upgrades from consumers in Asia, Africa, and the Middle East.
