China Issues First Public Statement on Mali Coup

The Chinese government offered its first response to the recent coup in Mali. Foreign Ministry spokesman Zhao Lijian addressed this issue at his regular press briefing in Beijing yesterday:

Beijing Daily: “Mali’s President Ibrahim Boubacar Keita announced his resignation following a military mutiny on August 18. I wonder if you have any comment on that?”
