Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif came to China earlier this week with a big wish list and he’s leaving with everything he wanted and more. PM Sharif wrapped up a two-day visit to Beijing on Wednesday after meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping and Prime Minister Li Keqiang.

The Prime Minister was under enormous pressure to get the Chinese government to simultaneously restructure Pakistan’s mountain of debt, much of which is owed to Chinese creditors, while at the same time securing new financing for large-scale infrastructure projects that are part of the $65 billion China-Pakistan Economic Corridor.
