From #BlackLivesMatter to Beijing: Approaches to Combating Racism

As the Black Lives Matter protests spread and demands to defund the police take shape, Americans are seemingly awakening to the centuries of anti-black racism that has plagued our country. 

From slavery to Jim Crow to redlining to mass incarceration, it’s no question that anti-blackness has been enshrined in the American state since the beginning. In response, black Americans are taking to the streets. They’re protesting, rioting, and organizing to demand change. And this time, they are being heard.
