China Says Iran Deal Should Get UN Approval, Calls for UN Reform

China’s Foreign Minister Wang Yi said his government expects any possible deal to end the war in Iran to be submitted to the UN Security Council. Speaking at the UN headquarters in New York, he said UNSC endorsement would lend legitimacy to a peace agreement.

Wang also called for the Security Council to step up to help maintain global peace and security. China is chairing the UNSC for the month of May.
