Chinese investment in Brazil nearly doubled last year to a record $6.1 billion, making the South American country the top destination worldwide for Chinese FDI, according to new data from the China-Brazil Business Council (CBBC).

But it wasn’t just the amount of money flowing into Brazil that was notable; where it’s going and how it’s being used also broke new records. A total of 52 new Chinese investment projects across 20 states were confirmed last year, a third more than in 2024.
