India Stands Alone in Opposing China-Backed WTO Investment Deal

India was the only country on Saturday to oppose a China-led investment mechanism to be incorporated into the World Trade Organization (WTO) framework.

Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal said at the WTO’s ministerial gathering in Youndé, Cameroon, that the China-led Investment Facilitation for Development Agreement would undermine the principles of the WTO and exceed the body’s mandate.
