China, Pakistan Talk Afghan Security

Mohammad Sadiq is Pakistan's special envoy for Afghanistan

Mohammad Sadiq and Yue Xiaoyong, Pakistan and China’s special envoys for Afghanistan, held an online meeting to discuss the declining security situation in the country. The talks covered growing threats of terrorism, regional stability, and ongoing security cooperation.

The talks were reportedly prompted by earlier attacks on Chinese personnel near Afghanistan’s border with Tajikistan, and apparently preceded Monday’s attack in Kabul. China has put ongoing pressure on Pakistan and Afghanistan to limit attacks on Chinese sites by separatist militants. Pakistan blames Afghanistan for harboring some of these groups.
