Iran calls for Security Coordination within Shanghai Cooperation Organization

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi called on the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) to formalize security coordination between member states.

At the body’s Foreign Ministers’ meeting in Tianjin, China, on Wednesday, Araghchi proposed: “a permanent mechanism to monitor, document and coordinate responses to military aggression, acts of sabotage, state terrorism, and violations of national sovereignty of member states.” He also referred to the recent Israel-U.S. airstrikes on Iran as “an act of aggression.”
