China’s Foreign Ministry announced a ceasefire agreement between Myanmar’s ruling military junta and the Myanmar National Democratic Alliance Army (MNDAA) on Monday. The agreement triggered a cessation of fighting from Saturday.

The MNDAA is part of the Three Brotherhood Alliance of ethnic militias that has seized large parts of the country. It is currently unclear whether the deal also includes the two other militias and several more currently fighting the junta.
