Ghana’s Newly-elected President Wants to Quickly Resume Chinese-backed Infrastructure Development

Ghanaian President-elect John Dramani Mahama met with Chinese Ambassador Tong Defa on Friday and expressed hope that once the West African country emerged from the ongoing debt restructuring process that Beijing will resume infrastructure development support.

“Once the transition is completed, Ghana will engage with China on technical cooperation and explore how we can continue to benefit from initiatives like the FOCAC disbursement and the Belt and Road Initiative,” the President-elect said.
