Chinese Ambassador to India, Xu Feihong, issued what appears to be Beijing’s latest effort to de-escalate tensions with New Delhi during a keynote address that he delivered late last week in the Indian capital.

We should promote the political settlement of international and regional hotspot issues, bring development back to the center of the international agenda, and enhance inter-civilization communication and dialogue,” Xu said in remarks that were considerably more conciliatory than the usual rhetoric from Chinese officials talking about ties with India in recent years.
