Niger rebels fighting for the release of the country’s democratically elected leader say they have disabled part of a crucial pipeline carrying crude oil to Benin.

Vital to both the Nigerien and Beninese economies, the 2,000-kilometre-long pipeline has become the subject of a diplomatic spat between the two West African neighbors.
