Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi sat down for an interview with the U.S. news outlet Newsweek and made conciliatory remarks on China, calling for stable ties and a resolution of the long-running border dispute between the two countries.

Yet while Modi talks peace, India is building up its military posture towards China on the disputed land border and in the Indian Ocean.
